NZ really is jaw-droppingly beautiful isn't it. I toured the islands by motorcycle a couple of years ago and was totally blown away by the place....so much so that I'll probably move there after Japan.

@Stu: This is near Wanaka. Driving in from the north through the Haas pass it is just amazing. If you are not going to live there at least spend another holiday Stu! That's what I am planning anyway even when it is over a day flying..

@purelysnow: If I was a Fisherman I would have spend hours here if not days! Was more into wildwater sledging the narrow rivers that flow into these lakes ;)

If you're really keen, head on down to Fiordland and go diving - incredibly clear water (but cccccold) and breathtaking underwater life. Great for photographs!
It's lovely seeing NZ through tourist's eyes! Keep it up!
